As a child, I was brought up fishing at night for red fish with cut bait in Arroyo City Texas. To this day, I still love fishing the flats at night for reds, but fishing murky water and pitching for reds with lures is my true passion. I have been fishing tournaments since the age of 13 with numerous 1st place wins and top then 10 finishes in the STX API Redfish Series, Texas Redfish Series and Red Fish Cup Nation events. Currently my home waters are in the Houston Area, but I have fished all along the Gulf of Mexico. My top three choices of bait are 4 inch Berkley Gulp Shrimp, 3 inch Berkley Peeler Crab and the ¾ oz Johnson Spoon. My choice of water is benthic systems with 3/16 oz jig head and peel crab chasing tailing reds. If you ever make it to Texas and hear Mariachi Music pass you up, don’t worry- it’s just me heading home from a day of fishing.
Tips: Spend as much time on the water as you possibly can, it will pay off. Pay attention to the details; learn the habits and the waters you will fish. When you do find the water you want to fish SLOW Down, don’t fish but hunt your fish!
